West Indies defeated Star Stud World XI in an all-round effort by 72 runs in Hurricane relief T20 match at the Lord’s on Friday.
The match was organized to raise funds for the renovation of the five cricket stadiums in the Caribbean, which was damaged by the storm Irima and Maria in 2017.
To bat, the West Indians starts an opening 75-run partnership between Chris Gayle (18) and Ewan Lewis (58 in 26 balls) and significant contributions of Marlon Samuels, Dinesh Ramdin and Andre Russell have been put into strong 199/4 in 20 overs.
In reply, only three World XI batsmen can score double figures and the whole team scores only 127 runs in 16.4 overs.
The World XI lost their top four wickets with just eight runs on the board even Sri Lankan player Thisara Perera scores only 61 runs in 37 balls, including seven fours and three sixes.
Thisara Perera got some help from the other end because Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (12) and Shahid Afridi (11) were the only other batsmen to cross double figures.
