‘Veere Di Wedding’ film review: Four Girls With A Relatable Characters

Four friends struggle with their own lives and their heart breaks. This is not a new concept for Bollywood, but ‘Veer Di Wedding’ is different because these four friends are girls in the movie  These four girls live on their own terms and talk fearlessly and dauntlessly. They laugh at their life’s circumstances.

It feels good to watch such a movie in which the progress of women characters and the shortcomings and problems of their lives have been shown. These characters are allowed to make mistakes and that is the beauty of this film.

The story of the film shows their confused life. Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor) is trapped in Wedding hassles. She tries to get married and meeting the expectations of relatives which makes her offended. But she flows with time because she is in love. Avni (Sonam K Ahuja) is not getting her Soulmate. Her mother is looking for a life partner for her. Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar) is not made to be in a relationship and Meera (Shikha Talasania) has been married to a foreigner. She has a child but there is no happiness in her married life.

The chemistry of these four friends is quite strong. There are some great dialogues that these actresses have said in a great way. Many scenes of the movie also make you feel happy, but there are some parts of the film that could have been better. The film should show the characters’ lives in a little more detail, so that the audience can feel them. However we can say that the chemistry between the actresses never feels fake, but the situations into which they are forced rarely seem convincing.

In Veere Di Wedding Director Shashanka Ghosh proves yet again his ability to tell sensible, lively stories about women without being painfully self-conscious about his sensitivity or their gender, without elevating female characters to devi status, but presenting them to the world as they or we are, as human beings, good and bad, with the ability to laugh our heads off even as we deal with the multiple challenges this damned male-dominated world throws at us.

Girls’ dialogues are interesting but somewhere in the gossip of girls, a lot of time has been wasted. In every frame, four girls are seen wearing fine outfits. Apart from this, songs like ‘Tarifan’ and ‘bhangra ta sajda’ will give you plenty of entertainment.

There are rarely seen such characters of girl’s on the screen, who, frequently talk about their desires and sex. ‘Veere The Wedding’ is a good effort on this side. Especially, young people will be able to associate themselves with movie’s dialogues and problems.

Director Shashanka Ghosh’s film is about real, relatable women. They simply are who they are. These are women with flaws, humanity and above all. Everyone should watch the film to get in touch with the real world of girls life(except profanity).
