Abraham Benjamin de Villiers has been one of the greatest cricketers South Africa have ever produced. He made his debut back way back in 2004 and has been a vital cog of their lineup in all forms of cricket.
De Villiers mentioned, ”It has been a very tough decision to make and I’ve thought long and hard about it but I believe it is my time to step down. A huge thank you to my teammates, Cricket South Africa and all the supporters who have been behind me both in SA and around the world.”
He has made the most number of test runs before getting out for a duck (2958). He is Mr. 360 in international cricket, this is because he can hits shots all around the wicket. De Villiers is the fastest to hit 50,100,150 runs in ODI cricket all against West Indies.
Everyone knows that ABD is very good at cricket. But very few people knew that he is multi-sports person.
He played SA junior national Hockey Team.
He got 6 SA school swimming awards.
He was also shortlisted for junior national football squad.
During 2007 ICC world cup he faced tough times in his career got 4 ducks. He silenced all the critics when he hit 1st ever ODI hundred in this tournament.
