Shashi Tharoor Charged With Abetting Sunanda Pushkar’s Suicide

The 62 year old former union minister of congress party Shashi Tharoor has been charged with abetting the suicide of his wife Sunanda Pushkar, who was found dead in five-star hotel Delhi in 2014.

Before her death she publicly accused her husband of having an affair with a Pakistani journalist. A day before her death, she had called a prominent journalist and had talked about a big reveal.

The police now say they have no proof of murder but it was evident Sunanda pushkar had been driven to suicide. She had not been eating or leaving her room, the charge-sheet reportedly says. Police sources say that the couple fought frequently and Sunanda pushkar had been taking depression pills without prescription.

In 3000 page chargesheet , the police named Tharoor as the only accused and also alleged that he subjected his wife to cruelty.

The chargesheet  was filed before Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmendra Singh, who will consider it on 24 May.
