IPL 11: Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals By 6 Wickets

Kings XI Punjab defeated Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets. In this match played at Holkar Stadium in Indore, Punjab beat Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets with a fine half-century of KL Rahul. Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals scored 152/9 runs in the 20 overs and gave a target of 153 runs to the Kings XI Punjab. In reply, Kings XI Punjab scored 155 runs in 18.4 overs.

Punjab are placed fourth with five wins and three defeats and 10 points, the Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan languishes at the bottom of the league points-table with just three wins from eight games. With just six points in their kitty, Rajasthan are in a must-win situation with the league just about past the midway point.

The differentiation in these two knocks showcases Rahul’s range as a batsman. With or without Gayle, he has revelled in the opener’s role at Punjab, something he didn’t get to do much at RCB. Rahul played his best innings of 84 not out off 54 balls with three sixes and seven fours.

The wickets fell in quick succession for Rajasthan, the highlight being the tag team effort by Mayank Agarwal and Manoj Tiwary to take the catch of Ben Stokes.

What a final over from Andrew Tye, conceded just four singles along with a run out and RR made 152 in their 20 overs.

Punjab was under pressure after losing wickets, the required run rate also shot up to 9 per over. Kings XI Punjab needed 12 runs in the last two overs and Rahul hurried to win it for the team by hitting a six in the 19th over and ending in style with a boundary.
