India welcomed the first group of 11 members of the Sikh and Hindu minority community of Afghanistan, including Nidan Singh Sachdeva who was recently released from captivity.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, in a tweet, that the Indian government was “facilitating the return of Hindu and Sikh community members seeking permanent residency and citizenship in India”.
The MEA on Sunday also thanked the Afghanistan government for extending necessary support for the safe return of 11 people.
