After Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra visited Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh, BJP leader Vinay Katiyar said on Thursday, that Rohingyas should not live in India and neither should those who sympathise with them. Katiyar said that Rohingya Muslims have killed thousands of Hindus and humiliated their daughters so they should be sent out of the country.
Priyanka visited refugee camps in Cox’s Bazaar on Monday as UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador and called the Rohingya crisis “horrfied”. The 35-year-old actress also appealed to help the affected children.
The 35-year-old actor took to Instagram to document her visit – day-by-day – through posts, pictures and videos at various camps.
“As I walk into the Women Friendly Space at the Jamtoli Camp, I am instantly struck by a certain calmness. These camps are loud & crowded, actually overcrowded, and so to find a quiet oasis, in this case a small hut with a tarp roof and thatched bamboo walls, is surprising.
“Every child deserves a future, an opportunity to contribute to humanity,” she said at a news conference in Dhaka on Thursday after her four-day visit to Cox’s Bazar.
“Refugee children are the world’s responsibility because they don’t have anywhere to go. Please don’t divide children, they are future citizens of the world we live in. What if that happens to your own children? So it’s the responsibility of the all to save them,” Priyanka Chopra said.
Some 700,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar’s Rakhine state since late August to escape military-led violence and are now seeking U.N. protection to return home. Almost 60 percent of the total refugees are children, and 60 babies are being born every day in camps in Bangladesh.
