Durgapur Airport To Get First International Flight On Sheikh Hasina Visit, PM Modi Will Also Meet

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be on West Bengal tour from 25 and 26 May. During this, she will board the international flight from Kolkata airport and reach Durgapur airport. Bangladeshi PM will be the forerunner of the first international aircraft here. Along with this Durgapur Airport will get the first international flight.

The Bangladesh PM will be staying in Kolkata for two days, but there is no slot for any meeting between Hasina and Mamata.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet at Viswa-Bharti in Santiniketan on May 25 at the inauguration of Bangladesh Bhavan.

Sheikh Hasina likely to bring up Rohingya crisis, Teesta water sharing with Narendra Modi. In the Sheikh Hasina’s agenda, the issue of Rohingya refugees and the Teesta water sharing treaty are likely to be the top issues.

The main purpose of the visit for two premiers will inaugurate ‘Bangladesh Bhavan (Banga Bhavan) at the Visva-Bharti University Kolkata after attending the  convocation of the university.

Sheikh Hasina will reach Shantiniketan on the birth anniversary of Bangladesh great National poet Kazi Nazrul and she will also take part in the convocation ceremony of Kazi Nazrul University. Sheikh Hasina will be conferred an honorary Doctor of Literature degree by West Bengal governor and university chancellor Keshari Nath Tripathi Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be the chief guest at the convocation. It will be Modi’s first visit to the university.

If we talk about other topics might be come up for discussion are water connectivity, power and infrastructure, the issue of illegal Immigration in Asam, Signing of Teesta agreement.

On the same day, Hasina will attend an iftar party, to be hosted by Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Syed Moazzem Ali, at Taj Bengal Hotel in Kolkata. After the programme, the premier is likely to hold a meeting with local businessmen.
